Psychologist
Mary Ann Griffin is a registered Senior Clinical and Counselling
Psychologist and a member of the Australian Psychological Society.
Mary Ann’s practice as a psychologist has been varied and extensive.
Her experience includes the corporate environment, education,
community health, psychiatric settings and private practice.
Mary Ann’s area of expertise include individual and group therapy for
adults with anxiety, depression, bereavement, complex trauma,
personality disorders, relationship and parenting issues, workplace
stress, dual diagnosis, bipolar disorder, and pain management. With
a background in nursing and 3 children, she has a very grounded,
caring, empathic, and practical approach to issues presented and
endeavours to empower her clients.
Mary Ann is committed to evidence-based therapies and has
practiced Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) since 2006
following 8 years in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). She
introduced ACT group therapy into The Melbourne Clinic and trained
and supervised many staff in ACT over the years. Mary Ann is able to
incorporate 25 years of clinical experience into her therapeutic
approach with a sound knowledge of trauma practice, DBT,
mindfulness, Schema Therapy and grief/bereavement therapy.
Mary Ann has received many testimonials from clients who have
connected with a more meaningful life and she continues to develop
her knowledge and practice of psychology.
